Introduction

We also provide crawl space cleanout/remediation services: Vapor Barrier, insulation, air duct removal and installation. Commercial Pesticide Applicator License: AG-L1021906 Commercial Pesticide Operator License: AG-L1038757 We service the Portland metro area, Tillamook, Cannon Beach, and Seaside areas. Payment Method: Checks, Cash, Debit and Credit Cards. NOTE: We require an inspection for rodent and other small animal (e.g., opossum, raccoon) elimination (trapping, sealing off entry points) before we can provide a price. The most important part of this is finding the entry point(s) into your living space, attic, crawlspace and/or basement, and securing them. Our company completes a lot of exclusion, cleanup, cleanout, and decontamination work, as animal droppings and urine can be a health hazard, especially if they are in or anywhere near the air/ventilation ducts. Remember, approximately 50% of the air you breath in your home comes directly from your crawl space. Our main goal is to keep animals (e.g., rats, mice, squirrels, raccoons) out of your attic, crawlspace, and living space permanently. All of our work is guaranteed. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions. No monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, or yearly contracts required. We provide guarantees, not expensive and inefficient contracts. In addition, what happens to the the ecosystem around or in your home if chemicals are applied on a monthly basis? Yes, you are correct, toxicity will build up; leaving the soil composition and properties (pH, salinity, cation exchange capacity, organic matter, and carbon to nitrogen ratios) around your house completely out of equilibrium. Even the so-called "natural" and "organic" pesticides" are toxic if applied inappropriately or if these pesticides are applied over and over. Ecosystem Pest Solutions is a front runner in solving your pest problem using knowledge and experience. For example, as mentioned above, finding and sealing off entry points, and eliminating conducive conditions are the keys to eliminating rats from your home. With us, using rodenticides, pesticides, or insecticides is the last resort. Habitat modification and the education we provide are components of IPM (explained in the next paragraph). Our mission is to keep your home pest free with real green, organic problem solving; a solution for you, not a bandaid. We are not interested in signing you up on any contract, just pure guarantees, from us to you. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is an ecosystem-based strategy that focuses on long-term prevention of pests and the damage they can cause. The true green, non-toxic approach means not using any rodenticides, pesticides, or insecticides, whether natural or not. Natural products are still labeled as pesticides and can provide toxicity to the environment if used incorrectly. Toxicity is a result of overuse, no matter the product. Even water can be toxic. However, in some cases the “minimal” use of pesticides or insecticides may be warranted. For example, ant colony elimination can be accomplished with minimal use of ant bait….applied ONLY to the active site and ONLY when the activity is occurring….not before or after. Another example, Biocontrol (e.g., bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis) is a great option for those who want nature to do the work. This bacterium is a naturally occurring predatory and parasitic pest solution that thrives in healthy soil, and is toxic in pest intestines. The most fantastic part of this, B. thuringiensis isn’t harmful to honey bees, they’re immune! Finding solutions for our clients. Our treatments are carefully timed and targeted based on monitoring of the pest population level, therefore, they are more effective and last longer than those based on a prescheduled ongoing maintenance (i.e. monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly planned pesticide treatments). This doesn’t mean we won’t consult with you on a regular basis, it just means we will use real science and solve your pest problem(s). In addition, proper species identification (e.g. not all ants or rats are created equal) is essential in how treatments are completed. This savings can then be applied to less expensive landscape maintenance (e.g. ongoing organic matter removal to reduce ant activity), more frequent garbage removal to prevent rat activity, and structural modification (e.g. foundation vent repair to prevent crawl space rodent activity). For other bugs or insects, plant diversification can go a long way. For example, planting some marigolds alongside those tomatoes, not only will be more aesthetically appealing, but you will also get protection against unwanted pests.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
It depends on the pest we are dealing with. In other words, each situation or infestation is different; your home's ecosystem has its own unique characteristics. A cookie cutter approach is mostly ineffective.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First and foremost, we listen to our clients. We then assess and find solutions.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Bachelor of Science, Natural Resources from Oregon State University, and continuing education from various sources, such as University Extension Services. Chemistry, soil science, toxicology, animal science, biology, entomology, botany, hydrology, general science, and real world experience with stakeholders and environmental interaction. Understanding our human behavior is paramount in solving pest problems.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Residential and Commercial.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Will the service permanently solve my pest issue or is it just a bandaid? Do I really need recurring services? Understand what toxic means and how/why it occurs. Ask the professional about their chemistry knowledge and education level.
